영국 런던증권거래소

1801년 설립되었으며, 영국 최대의 증권거래소입니다. 1571년 개장한 Royal Exchange라는 거래소가 있었는데, 매너가 없다는 이유로 증권중개인들(stockbrokers)은 그곳에서 거래를 할 수 없었다고 합니다. 그래서, 증권중개인들은 런던의 커피하우스를 중심으로 비공식으로 증권 거래를 하였습니다. 1773년 주식을 사고 팔던 곳인 조나단 커피 하우스를 증권거래소라 명명하고, 나름대로의 거래 규칙 등을 정하게 되었습니다. 여기에서 증권거래소가 시작되었다고 합니다. 런던증권거래소는 한때 세계최대의 거래소이기도 했으나, 최근에는 그 위상이 많이 낮아진 상태입니다.
